C. M. Slinger & Sons Ltd work with a wide variety of natural lime products on a daily basis for building, pointing, rendering, wet dashing/ harling and plastering.

Grade II Listed Gateway

We were instructed by The Yorkshire Dales National Park to reinstate the V rustication render to the base of the arched gateway. The original render was analysed and colour matched, we cleaned and prepared the background, applied a modified hydraulic lime base coat specifically designed for the location. We then applied a specially formulated hydraulic lime finish coat to match in style, colour and finish.

Natural Hydraulic Lime Pointing

When making lime mortar for pointing work we select the most appropriate type and strength of lime binder, combined with well graded aggregates to produce a durable and long lasting material. We use a variety of different size and coloured aggregates to produce a mortar that is aesthetically pleasing with a good match to the existing building and the surrounding area.

Chimney Stack Re-Pointing 

We removed the existing sand and cement pointing which was the main cause of stone surface decay, leading to further water ingress in the stack and below. We re-pointed the stonework with a Hydraulic Lime mortar designed for the use on chimney stacks.

Farmhouse Re-Pointing
 

We hacked off the cement pointing to all elevations of this farmhouse and re-pointed with a Natural Hydraulic Lime Mortar.

Wet Dashing/ Harling Grade II Listed Farmhouse
 
As main contractor we fully refurbished this Grade II Listed Farmhouse, part of the contract involved removing the very strong cement render, which was causing high levels of damp within the external walls. After removal of the render we Wet Dashed/ Harled the walls using a Natural Hydraulic Binder combined with carefully selected aggregates to produce a nice subtle finish.

Wet Dashed Gable Wall
 
The existing cement pointed gable wall was saturated, we removed the pointing, installed lead trays above the openings, re-faced the perished concrete cills with Lithomex Stone Surface Repair, renewed the barge boards and soffitts, rendered and wet dashed with lime.
