C. M. Slinger & Sons Ltd work with a wide variety of natural lime products on a daily basis for building, pointing, rendering, wet dashing/ harling and plastering.
Grade II Listed Gateway
We were instructed by The Yorkshire Dales National Park to reinstate the V rustication render to the base of the arched gateway. The original render was analysed and colour matched, we cleaned and prepared the background, applied a modified hydraulic lime base coat specifically designed for the location. We then applied a specially formulated hydraulic lime finish coat to match in style, colour and finish.
Natural Hydraulic Lime Pointing
When making lime mortar for pointing work we select the most appropriate type and strength of lime binder, combined with well graded aggregates to produce a durable and long lasting material. We use a variety of different size and coloured aggregates to produce a mortar that is aesthetically pleasing with a good match to the existing building and the surrounding area.
Chimney Stack Re-Pointing
We removed the existing sand and cement pointing which was the main cause of stone surface decay, leading to further water ingress in the stack and below. We re-pointed the stonework with a Hydraulic Lime mortar designed for the use on chimney stacks.
We hacked off the cement pointing to all elevations of this farmhouse and re-pointed with a Natural Hydraulic Lime Mortar.
